Sample Carb Cycling Meal Plan

carb cycling m&f logoIn the May 2011 issue of “Muscle & Fitness” magazine, Shelby Starnes – the guru behind the carb cycling diet that allowed “Big Chris” McCombs to lose 75 pounds in just 5 short months – wrote an article titled “The No Cardio Workout”.

The premise of the article was that anybody could lose a great deal of fat, shrink their waist, lean and tone up, and ‘get ripped’ (as the term goes) without ever having to step on the treadmill, elliptical machine, run, or do any cardio work in general.

Now, while a basic workout was provided, the heart of the program was the carb cycling diet that Shelby recommended – which was similar to what he put “Big Chris” McCombs on.

Shelby also went on to add these notes about his sample carb cycling plan:

Cook all eggs with cooking spray and poach or grill all meats.  Steam or microwave all vegetables and bake all sweet potatoes.  The post-workout meals shown here are for a guy who trains in the afternoon.  If you train in the morning, simple rearrange the meals so that the post-workout meal is the first one you have after training.

Carb Cycling Plan Notes:

NOTE #1 – this sample carb cycling plan is NOT a “one-size-fits-all” program.  This was written out for a man that weighs roughly 200 pounds or so.  If you weigh more or less than 200 pounds, or are a woman, then your needs would change and while the carb cycling principles would remain the same, the diet plan itself would have to change accordingly.

NOTE #2 – this sample carb cycling plan obviously has you eating several times per day.  While this is not always optimal or easy for most people, if you can fit it into your schedule, you will see best results.
